This
is a picture of Magnum. He was listed as a Rottie mix when we found
him at the SPCA. He was very thin and part of his fur was gone but
as you can see he is very much a part of our family now and this 'aggressive
dog' has brought a lot of love and joy to us. We also took him back
to the SPCA to show him to the volunteers there since he had made
some friends while he was staying there and brought home a friend for
him (the lop eared rabbit). We feel that we were very fortunate
to find Magnum and with all the children that are around this house
not one goes back home without wanting to take Magnum home with them.
We are looking forward to the day when we add another Rottie to our
family. I hope you enjoy these pictures.

This
is Abbey - short for abandoned - who was found at the tender age of 9
weeks and not expected to live. She had numerous problems - broken
right front paw that was never set, digestive problems (don't ask!!) due
to lack of food during her first few weeks of life, a broken tail and many
more. However, she was lucky to be found by a vets assistant and
given a chance to live as normal a life as possible. We took her on
and were told that she would probably only live till around five at most -
she's now eight years old (human years!) and although she has many health
problems she is a happy, contented dog. The photo shows her lying on
her blanket on her chair!!
We
are unsure of her exact breed(s), but have been told that she resembles a working spaniel and has the temperament to go with it! (She
used to be very destructive but we just took it to be insecurity in her
puppy years!) She has become a highly loved part of our family -
even if she is nuts!!!

Spike, high, wide and
handsome as can be!
Hi,
Just wanted to let you know that your site about Rottweilers is the best
I have visited and is full of common sense facts.
We had a Rottweiler in the 80s and loved him dearly. He was an
ambassador for the breed, big, handsome and clever. We ran a stables
inside a military barracks and for amusement he raced cars passing along
the road round the perimeter fence; not just any cars, they were
carefully chosen by size (not vans), color (not white) and speed. He
waited until the right one came along and then set off to beat it to the
corner; if the car rounded the corner by the fence then he had an extra
long race. Some drivers cottoned on to his game and slowed down so that
he could win! He also caught rats and buried them in the muck heap.
My husband and I are now retired and living in France and are thinking
of buying another Rotty but they are a bit expensive. However we do have
a large garden and house so we get one sooner rather then
later. Anyway, great site, well done.
Regards
Juliet
Spike, a show jumper
in the making!
Hi
Roy
I sent you some pictures a while ago of our first Rottweiler, Spike,
(high, wide and handsome) and said at the time that we might get another
Rotty. Well, a few weeks after Christmas we saw an ad in a local French
shop for a Rottweiler puppy (4 months old, called Ulrick, or doo doo!
don't ask!) Anyway, here are a few pics. We call him Spike too, (Spike 2)
and he is a lovely young dog, a great character. He started guarding the
house as soon as he arrived and gave us a fright once or twice until we
got used to him letting us know that he considered something amiss; quite
plucky for such a youngster. He spotted our next door neighbour through
the hedge about 15 meters away in his back garden and not only did Spike
bark loudly, but he stood at full alert and every hair on his body stood
on end.
Anyway he is growing very quickly and although he loves the little bed he
came with, sadly he really cannot fit in it any longer. He loves loud and
noisy things to play with; a large empty dishwasher powder container is
favourite at the moment, pushed round the tiled kitchen floor with great
abandon. He also loves balloons and a packet of them blown up and tied
together in twos, will keep him busy and entertained (and entertaining)
for some time while he pussyfoots around trying to play and pick them up
without bursting them.
Unfortunately he was left alone quite a lot before we got him and
consequently will chew and swallow anything made of paper or cardboard,
hankies and toilet paper being very much appreciated! He also likes
shoelaces and will not say no to the shoes they are in too.
Although obviously loved and treated well, I would imagine that the French
equivalent of "no" was not used too much and he has therefore
had a bit of a trial learning who is boss and what he can and cannot do.
He also has had to learn English commands instead of French! Still, slowly
but surely he is adjusting. One of the things he used to do and which made
us laugh, was that when we were sitting in an armchair, he would just
wonder up and climb straight onto our lap with no hesitation whatsoever!
When we objected and unceremoniously deposited him back on the floor, the
look on his face was one of complete surprise! he simply could not
understand that we would not want him to sit in what was obviously the
most comfortable place for him!
He eats anything and was obviously fed "naughty" things by his
previous owners as he can hear the rattle of sweet paper at a hundred
yards!! If we want him to come in from outside and he is reluctant, my
husband just makes chewing noises and he's in like a shot. So far he has
refused nothing in the food line; he loves apples, broccoli, celery,
fennel, oranges, carrots, although when we first got him in February
carrots were too hard but now he can manage them OK. The only thing he has
not eaten yet, and probably won't, is an old hard lemon I gave him to play
with; he runs round the floor with it, having a quick nip and then dancing
all around when the bitter taste hits home.
Anyway, attached are some pictures, and I will send some replacements
later if that would be OK.
Hope the young dog he took on is turning out OK. I thought of you when we
bought this one.
Bye for now and best regards.

Hi
just visited your website,
it is fantastic, nice one!!!
I
have attached a couple of pictures of my two babies. One is obviously a Springer
Spaniel, she is a year old and her name is Lunar, a cheeky little menace
she bounces of the other dog nicely and keeps my four year old amused. The
other is a Presa Canario called Phoenix or Fifi, who we rescued. She is
now 18 months old and is looking much fatter than the picture shows, she
is an attention seeker and slobbers on everything, but is still a pleasure
to walk and an absolutely lovely soppy companion!!! Thank you, your site
is wonderful.

My Boy Louie
Hello
Just wanted to say that
the photo's you have on your site are brilliant, there was one
particular item that caught my eye and that was the photo and info
from Juliet re
" Spike, high, wide and
handsome as can be! "
I wanted to send a photo and to say that
my boy Louie does the same thing, there is a fence in the park that
runs along the road where he can not get out, and he waits for Lorries
to come along and then races them to the end. If he beats them
he will bark to let them know, again some of the drivers see what he
is doing and slow down or give a toot.
Louie also likes to howl at 999
sirens, and where we walk there is a Fire Station,
the fire station have heard Louie howl and have even made a
special trip out one day with sirens just for him.
We have a girl who is Louie's twin named
Jez, she howls with him but does not realize what she is howling
at. Jez likes to beat Louie whilst out on the walk and even
knocks him over and rolls him, but he still loves her.
The are both my babies and I love them
very much, I took some pictures of them whilst on
holiday in Devon and wanted to share some with you.
They were taken January 2004

I
got my dog Lilly about a month ago, at which point she was 7 months old.
I was told by the humane society that she is a lab/corgi mix, but her
coloring makes me doubt that. she has Rottweiler coloring (black
with tan eyebrow marks and legs), and whitish undercoat (all over, not
just near the neck). she's only about 40 lbs right now (although she
could still grow more). I've been looking up breeds on the internet
and the only conclusion I have is that she's a mutt (I want to know a
little more, specifically, what kind of mutt?)
anyway, I'm attaching a picture and if you can give me a clue, that'd be
great! Thanks,
Lilly's loving
owner

Hello,
My name is Amie,
We
recently adopted/rescued a male Rottweiler mix from a woman who owns and
runs a small local business pet store/rescue shelter. She often rescues
dogs from our local University research labs and does a marvelous job at
finding trustworthy and loving owners for them. When we saw our Sherman
Tank, we fell in love with him on the spot. He was rescued from the
University's Research Department - they no longer wanted him for the study
they'd originally planned to have him in for he grew larger than your
average Rottweiler & therefore too large for the study. It is believed
that he is possibly mixed with Great Dane, as his head is narrower than a
Rottie's and his snout narrower and longer. Although he has Rottie
coloring and markings, he has unusually long and thin legs, not much
downward slope from neck to haunches as normal Rottie's, less breadth to
his chest than the standard Rottie, top of pelvic/hips protrude like a
Great Dane's and he is an unusually tall 31 inches at the shoulder!
He is two years old. The University did not have paperwork on where they
acquired him, so we are having to make educated guesses on his
environmental circumstances before the year he spent at the University
Labs.

Hi,
and a big hello to everybody, we have a question, our Dog is 9 months old,
and we are not sure "Who" is him. We say
this because we really don't know his origins, we only know that his
mother is a Golden Labrador and his father is a Rottweiler but like I said
we are not sure. Looking at his pictures maybe you can help us, thanks a
lot for this lovely page made for a great dogs.
Sincerely,

Hello,
I read your site with great interest, wow you sure know a lot about dogs!
We went to the animal shelter the other day & bought back this little
cutie! They said he was a chow/shepherd mix, but we think he is a
rottweiler/shepherd mix, however he has a black tongue like a chow, what
do you think? He is 14 weeks old, he seems to be very protective of his
toys or bones & often growls & snaps if we go near, we are taking
these off him regularly & saying NO when he does this. Thank You.
